Less than two weeks to Christmas, but only 9 days till the End of the World (apparently)….hmmm, decisions, decisions….
Oh never mind, either way you’ve got the perfect excuse to eat as much as you possibly can in the shortest possible amount of time. So, if you’ve never tried a Weekly Bake, this could be your last chance…
As promised, this Weekly Bake is an extravaganza of festive fair.
First off, Mince Pies (of course). What’s in a mince pie? Well, Christmas mincemeat (not to be confused with the minced meat you make burgers with). For the last hundred years or so, the meat has been left out, leaving just the dried fruits, mainly various types of raisins (currants and sultanas), sugar, spices and your choice of hard liquor. The English Baker’s mince pies are made with all of the above, including orange, dried cranberries, almonds, butter and sherry, encased in a sweet, almond pastry.
Second, Mincemeat and Frangipane Tart. A variation of the above, with the addition of a light, spongey, frangipane topping – so a little like a cross between a mince pie and a Bakewell tart.
If you’re a bit of a whizz in the kitchen yourself and fancy making your own mince pies, why not just get a pot of The English Baker’s delicious home-made mincemeat. You can also put this on vanilla ice-cream for bit of a Christmas treat.
And lastly, for the little ones and the loved ones, Chocolate Christmas Pudding Cake Pops. Chocolate cake mixed with chocolate ganache on the inside, and chocolate on the outside (well it is Belgium).

How to order:
For this special Christmas Weekly Bake, order today (Wednesday, 12th December) or tomorrow (Thursday, 13th December) for collection from The English Baker on Tuesday, 18th December. Please note, cake pops will keep until Christmas Day in a cool place, mince pies can be frozen until you need them, and mincemeat will keep for a month in a cool place. Unfortunately, you’ll have to eat the frangipane tarts within a couple of days…what a shame!
Please note, (Mayan apocalypses permitting) the next Weekly Bake will be 15th January 2013.
